Chief Michael Maloney Memorial Fund Elects New President

For Immediate Release

March 10th, 2014

Greenland, NH – The Board of Trustees for the Chief Michael Maloney Memorial Fund is proud to announce that they have elected Dawn Sawyer as their new president. Sawyer, a decorated police sergeant from Greenland, has expertise with outreach programs and volunteer groups that will help further the goals of the Memorial Fund – putting 100 percent of all funds raised directly to community enrichment and supporting first responders.

Sawyer stated, “I am honored to have been elected president of the Chief Michael Maloney Memorial Fund. I'm excited to be involved in keeping Chief Maloney's memory alive while supporting local First Responders, assisting students in their educational goals and supporting community projects.”

Tim Maloney, Vice President of the Board, is equally excited for Sawyer’s promotion from secretary to presiding over his brother’s memorial fund: “We continue to value Dawn's experience, leadership and ability to take on an incredible amount of work and make something wonderful happen. The fund's success to date is largely attributed to her hard work.”

The announcement for the new president comes as John Pickering steps down as president and Scot Blanchard steps down from his position as treasurer. Blanchard feels that the Board of Trustees is being left in good hands.

“I believe we have a core group that will continue to work hard to keep this fund up and running and continue to improve on making it a success. I will continue to be involved, as this is one of my connections to Mike,” he said.

The Chief Michael Maloney Memorial Fund was created after Chief Maloney was killed in the line of duty in April 2012. Since then, the Board of Trustees has been dedicated to keeping his memory alive through promoting charitable contributions for first responders and providing relief to families and children of New England Public Safety members who have been killed or injured in the line of duty.

“During a time of great loss for my family, Scot and John stepped up and through hard work and dedication, have helped create a lasting legacy for my brother. The Memorial Fund is something Mike would be very proud of and I will be forever grateful to both of them,” Tim Maloney said.
